Frequently asked questions about international recruitment

How does the placement of international skilled workers at LaSoL Global work?

Every placement starts with a free needs analysis: we clarify which qualifications, language skills and experience your company requires. We then search for suitable candidates through our international partner networks and verify diplomas, work experience and language level before presenting selected profiles to you. Once you have made your decision, we manage the entire process up to the first day of work: recognition of the professional qualification, the visa procedure, arrival in Germany and onboarding in your company. How long this takes depends on the profession, the country of origin and the authorities involved – for regulated professions such as nursing, you should realistically plan several months from selection to the first working day. We keep you informed at every stage so that you can plan your staffing realistically.

What does recognition of foreign professional qualifications mean?

In Germany, the Professional Qualifications Assessment Act (BQFG) governs how qualifications obtained abroad are evaluated. For regulated professions – such as nursing or medicine – recognition is a prerequisite for practising the profession at all. The competent authority checks whether the foreign qualification is equivalent to the German one. If it identifies substantial differences, these can be compensated through an adaptation course or a knowledge examination. Depending on the profession, different bodies are responsible: for example, the recognition authorities of the federal states for nursing professions, the licensing authorities for physicians, or the chambers of crafts for skilled trades; foreign university degrees are assessed by the Central Office for Foreign Education (ZAB). We guide professionals and employers through the entire procedure – from compiling the documents and filing the application to communicating with the authority.

Which visa routes exist for skilled workers from non-EU countries?

Germany's Skilled Immigration Act offers several routes: the visa for skilled workers with recognised vocational training, the visa for skilled workers with academic training, and the EU Blue Card for highly qualified professionals with a corresponding salary offer. For professions with substantial practical experience, such as IT, there are also options without a formal degree. Employers can apply for the fast-track procedure for skilled workers under Section 81a of the Residence Act at the competent foreigners authority, which significantly shortens processing times. The Opportunity Card for job seekers can also be an entry route in individual cases. Which route is right depends on the qualification, the profession and the employment contract. We assess the requirements in each individual case, prepare the documents for the visa application and the approval of the Federal Employment Agency, and coordinate the appointments at the embassy or consulate in the country of origin.

What German language skills do international professionals need?

The required language level depends on the profession. In nursing, recognition generally requires level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference, in some cases B1 with an additional professional language test – the details vary by federal state. Physicians must pass a specialist language examination at C1 level in addition to general German skills in order to obtain their licence to practise. In the skilled trades, logistics, manufacturing and hospitality there is usually no legal requirement; here the employer decides which level is needed in everyday work – at least B1 is common. We arrange suitable language courses for our candidates, which often start in the country of origin and continue in Germany, and we keep track of examination dates so that language learning does not delay the recognition and visa process.

How does LaSoL Global support onboarding and integration?

For us, a placement does not end with arrival in Germany. We support new employees with the first practical steps: registering their residence, opening a bank account, taking out health insurance and attending appointments at the foreigners authority. On request, we help with finding accommodation and with everyday questions. At the same time, we support employers with onboarding – from preparing the team to regular feedback meetings during the first months of the collaboration. Since we advise in German, English and Turkish, many questions can be resolved without a language barrier. Our goal is for professionals to settle in quickly and stay long-term: successful integration is the most important factor in making international recruitment pay off for both sides.

What does a placement cost and who bears the costs?

The initial consultation is free of charge and non-binding for companies and professionals alike. The specific terms of a placement depend on the scope of the engagement – for example, whether in addition to recruitment we also manage the recognition procedure, the visa process, language training and onboarding. Before the collaboration begins, you receive a transparent offer from us with no hidden costs. In addition, there are official fees that vary depending on the procedure, for example for the recognition of the qualification and the visa; we inform you about these in advance as well. Simply get in touch – together we will clarify which services you need and which costs you should realistically plan for.
